Hugely absorbing performances in a jewel box theatre.

About

Good Company Players opened their 2nd Space Theatre on July 16, 1982 after nearly 10 years of producing mostly musicals, beginning at the Fresno Hilton and then at Roger Rocka’s Dinner Theater. The purpose of this black box theatre was to allow the production of challenging dramatic pieces, quirky comedies and new works in an intensely personal space. The 2nd Space has been home to nearly 200 productions, embracing everything from Shakespeare to Neil Simon to musical premieres. Actors and patrons alike love the intimacy of 2nd Space which engages the audience completely and demands total concentration from the performers.

Where

Located in Fresno’s Tower District at 928 E. Olive Ave., between Wishon and Van Ness, the 2nd Space draws its audience and actors from all over California’s Central Valley. Reservations can be made online or by calling 559-266-0660.

What

2nd Space Theatre is a black box theatre that can seat up to 150 people. The seating is flexible and although the configuration is usually three-sided, it can be re-arranged for seating in the round, or any other layout the director and designer dream up. Seating is also general which means they are not reserved but selected by patrons as they arrive on a first-come-first-served basis. The view is great from all angles, however.

When

Good Company Players produce 4 shows weekly at 2nd Space Theatre, Thursday evenings through Sunday matinees, year-round with a few exceptions. Shows start at 7:30 pm on Thursdays, 8:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and 2:00 pm on Sundays.
